At Alibaba, I am part of a complex ecosystem of people, their work, and their users.

This means that in order to do my own work better, I have to cultivate a deep understanding of everything from the business itself to the workflows of everyone that's involved (directly or tenuously) with the project.

At a startup, UX designers often have the opportunity to participate in a certain amount of business decisions because we represent the users. But at Alibaba, UX designers have to balance the business intention with user needs based on business strategy.

Here I learned how to meet user needs and experience maximally within constraints.

CHALLENGES & LEARNINGS

This is my first time working for such a large internet company. Collaboration and decision-making are the biggest challenges and takeaways for me.
